Nancy O'Dell began her broadcast career as a reporter and anchor at WPDE-TV in Myrtle Beach South Carolina. She then worked as an anchor in the morning and a reporter on WCBD TV. Her reporting on the streets of Charleston about the police's leniency toward DUI cases led to being the State Law Enforcement Division investigating the DUI cases. Ms. O'Dell won an award for the Best Report of the Award from the Associated Press for South Carolina's media. O'Dell, after her stint in Charleston as a reporter, was a co-anchor at NBC's Miami WTVJ-TV station, before transferring over to Access Hollywood where she is an anchor and reporter on weekends. Alongside her job as the lead anchor on Access Hollywood Ms. O'Dell is also an anchor for NBC News' Today and in addition to Dateline NBC. She covered events such as The Oscars, The Emmys, The Grammys, and The Golden Globe Awards. In addition to co-hosting Pre-ShowArrivals in preparation for The Emmys & The Golden Globes. Also, she co-hosted Miss America's Pageant as in addition to the Miss Universe Pageant.
